Dave Loftin, Project Manager / Consultant
Dave Loftin brings has over 30 years of experience to Brawner & Associates. Dave operated a scene shop in upstate New York, producing sets for regional opera companies, and designing lighting for numerous operas, musicals, dance, and drama productions. His experience includes teaching technical direction and lighting design at the University of Illinois and Missouri State University. During this time he worked with the USITT, helping to develop the recommendations for Stage Rigging Standards. He served as Co-Commissioner of Health and Safety, presenting seminars and workshops in rigging and shop safety while coordinating and managing the first Masters Rigging Workshop in 1988.

Dave served eight years as production manager and technical director for one of the largest and longest running shows in Branson, MO, Shoji Tabuchi. It was here that Dave worked extensively with Michael Hottop and Jim Tetlow mounting two shows a year in the technically advanced theatre.

Brawner & Associates asked Dave to join their staff in January of 2002 to work as a rigging and lighting consultant, project manager, technical director and production electrician on various projects. Dave works with Donnie Brawner in making design decisions, managing projects onsite and fielding a sea of logistics from gear acquisition, to project research, transportation logistics and crew management. He acts as a liaison between architects, contractors and clients on installation projects.

Loftin was hand selected in 2005 as one of 12 industry professionals from the U. S. and Canada to develop the Entertainment Electrician Certification Examination sponsored by ESTA. These individuals, all with at least 20 years experience, came from backgrounds such as Broadway, Las Vegas, Cirque du Soleil, Montreal television and film, Hollywood, Electrical Engineering, and the Metropolitan Opera. Today, Dave is one of only 13 in North America to be certified both as a Master Electrician and Theatrical Rigger.

Dave Loftin is from Reeds Spring, MO, and resides in Nixa, MO, a suburb of Springfield with wife Paula. They’re enjoying first-time Grandparent rights with the birth of their new granddaughter in December of 2004.
